Practice Tips

There is no foolproof formula for success. We do know that by being in business for yourself you are an entrepreneur and the success of your business is on your shoulders. Here are some characteristics successful business entrepreneurs possess:

  • Are you passionate about electrolysis?
Success comes easily if you love what you do. You may ask why? Because we are relentless in our pursuit of the goals we have set about things that we love. If you don't like what you're doing how successful do you think you'll be? You won't be because you don't like what you're doing. Success in business is all about hard work and patience, which can only be attained if you love what you do. Electrologists who succeed do not mind the fact that they put in 10 to 12 hour days.
  • Visualize being so successful in your mind that you can almost touch it, feel it or it is within your reach.
Successful electrologists posses an attitude of openness and faith that you can have what you want if you can simply envision it as the first step on the path of achieving it. Think success.
  • Have enough faith in yourself to believe that you can achieve your vision.
To achieve your vision, you will need to have concrete goals that provide the stepping-stone towards your ultimate vision. Do you envision yourself in an upscale office on Fifth Avenue? Then you need to make plans for your goal because without them there is no path to follow.
  • Look for ways to network.
Even small businesses need assistance. Maybe a colleague you met at an association meeting can help you with management, printing costs or purchasing equipment. It is important to form relationships with people who can help you. To succeed, you must practice networking skills and always be alert to opportunities to expand your contacts.
  • Are you willing to learn?
Research shows that most self-made successful people don't even have an MBA and are of average intelligence. Nonetheless, they were willing to learn. To succeed, you must be willing to ask questions, be curious, interested and open to new knowledge. The willingness to learn becomes more evident as the changes in equipment and ways of doing business evolve.
  • Plan ahead by having enough funds to pay your expenses.
Spend wisely, and budget. It will take time to build your practice, so you will need money for rent, utilities, advertising, insurance and supplies. If financial management is not your best point think about getting an accountant or bookkeeper to help guide you.
  • Want to put some pizzazz into your advertising?
The American Electrology Association (AEA) has developed a Working Wonders Marketing Toolkit just for electrologists. It is designed for you to use immediately, nineteen ads in various sizes are written with you in mind. Use the photos in the Toolkit or your own photograph.
  • Attend Electrology conventions where you can purchase your supplies at a discount.
There are always "show specials" which translates into dollars saved.
