Licensing
There are a number of states that regulate the electrology profession by licensing. Many states require written and practical exam to obtain a license. The purpose of licensing is education and to maintain standards to protect public safety and the electrologist. The American Electrology Association supports licensing of the profession and assists states seeking licensure.
