American Electrology Association Exhibits at AARP 50+ Convention Electrologists are on hand at AARP's 2010 National Event & Expo - Orlando@50+ Oct 20, 2010
ORLANDO, FL - Oct 20, 2010 - The American Electrology Association (AEA) exhibited at Orlando@50+, the AARP’s 2010 annual National Event & Expo held at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, from September 30 through October 2, 2010 to promote permanent hair removal services, standards and education to over 25,000 attendees.
Participating for the second time, the American Electrology Association was on the floor at booth 2155 where attendees were able to speak with electrology professionals about their hair growth problems. The AEA electrologists supplied informative literature, provided attendees with lists of professional electrologists in their area, and ensured that AARP members knew that a mature person dealing with unwanted hair has a safe, affordable and permanent option available.
"Seniors value their appearance as much as any other age group," says Sharon Ortiz, Certified Professional Electrologist and President of AEA. "They want to have a certain ageless elegance. Feeling confident and loving the way you look makes life more enjoyable at any age."
For many of the AARP attendees, their grooming issues centered around two areas: the onset of unwanted hair growth as they aged, and the exhaustion of dealing for years with unwanted hair that appeared earlier in life due to issues such as Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). They were delighted to have professional electrologists available to answer their questions about electrolysis - the only FDA-approved permanent method of permanent hair removal available today.
In addition to promoting electrology itself and in keeping with AEA’s number one priority of consumer protection, the AEA electrologists also made sure that the attendees received information about how to make sure they choose an electrologist who follows the highest professional standards with regard to education, ethics, and consumer safety. AARP members were informed with regard to state licensing requirements, credentials, and what they should look for when selecting an electrologist.
Attendees were given a number of "green light" factors to check for, including AEA membership and the Certified Professional Electrologist (CPE) credential. In the absence of consistent state licensing requirements, the AEA established specific standards for the profession, including a national board certification credential - Certified Professional Electrologist (CPE). This designation requires ongoing continuing education to maintain board certification. Every AEA member, whether or not they hold the CPE credential, is required to adhere to the stringent standards set and maintained by the organization to ensure that consumers can depend on receiving safe and professional hair removal.
